Just had the same experience with a Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy of Dr. Strange that I found at a Rite Aid in NJ. It was $12.99 and I thought it was a great deal for all 3 versions of the movie (especially the Digital copy). Same feeling when I got home and no Digital code inside the case. Also noticed the label around the center hole indicating it was probably a rental. My sticker on the wrapping says ‘Dynamic Distributors". Blu-ray looks pristine and the regular DVD has some scuffs. On a subsequent trip to Rite Aid, I asked who I believed was either the manager or assistant manager, if the DVDs they sold were used, and she seemed taken aback, and said, “Oh no. They are new.” I told her about my DVD not having the digital code inside, and that I would look at it further to see if it was listed in another place in the case, but I knew I was not going to find anything. She wasn’t going to be able to help me any further either, so I just did some digging on the internet and found your very informative article detailing the same experience I had. I agree that it is false advertising to display on the case “Digital Copy” and not get that with your purchase, with no indication that the DVD is pre-viewed or used. I wonder if Rite Aid even knows what they are selling and if the DVDs are used.
