With the success of the Ghostbusters movie in 1984, Filmation decided to dust off their old Ghost Busters franchise to play on the hype.  1986 not only saw the Real Ghostbusters hit the air, but also Filmation’s GhostBusters.  Spun off from the 1975 live-action children’s show produced by Filmation starring Larry Storch as Eddie Spenser, Forrest Tucker as Jake Kong, and Bob Burns as Tracy the gorilla, the cartoon focused on the adventures of Eddie and Jake Jr., as well as Tracy, as they traversed time and space to battle Prime Evil and his supernatural forces.  First Comics, a small publisher that ran from 1983 to the early 90s, acquired the rights and made a mini-series based on the show.  The Original Ghostbusters, as they’ve come to be known, were ultimately outdone by the Real Ghostbusters and taken off the air.
But, NYGB recognizes their place in GB history as busters of any G-H-O-S-T!  Let’s go, Ghostbusters!  (That’s theirs, not ours.  Really!)
