This is a five-disc set, with two 4K UHD discs and 3 standard Blu-ray discs. I, Paul Rudoff, receive two mentions in the set. The first is at the end of the new Ghostbusters Fan Commentary track, and the second is a "special thanks" credit at the end of the Nobel Prize Aspirations deleted scene, which I provided.

Unbeknownst to most, only a limited number of units were produced. Once retailers sold out of their inventory, there would be no more available. I noticed this a mere two months after the set was first released. So, I asked my source at Sony about it, and this is what he had to say: "This was a limited edition, so as the units sell out, that will be reflected at retail. It's possible that units may shift from retailer to retailer as they sell through." Prices for this set have already skyrocketed on Amazon Marketplace.

THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS

The following is a list of special features that are incomplete or edited. More details can be found in this Spook Central article.
  • Ghostbusters II Electronic Press Kit
  • Ghostbusters II Oprah Winfrey Show Episode
  • Ghostbusters Fort Detmerring Deleted Scene
  • Ghostbusters Louis Encounters Muggers Deleted Scene
  • Ghostbusters ShoWest Exhibitor Reel

Missing Special Features
The following is a list of items that have appeared on previous home video releases that are not included in this release. This list does not include items partially missing from this release, such as portions of the deleted scenes or the beginning and ending of the GB2 EPK. This list does include items that need to be redone, such as the oil painting filter image galleries taken from the 2005 DVD instead of the 1999 DVD. Of course, this list won't include items that have never been released to the general public at all, such as the GB1 1999 DVD Press Kit VHS. Also, this is all just on-disc content. I'm not including any packaging bonuses like the liner notes from the 1999 Ghostbusters 1 and 2 DVDs, the Scrapbook from the 2005 DVD set, or the Digibook from the 2014 set.

Due to technical limitations, and outdated technology, the video commentary from 1999 DVD and the PlayStation 3 theme from the GB1 2009 Blu-Ray will never appear on any other releases. The video commentary is no great loss as the silhouettes hardly moved, and the PS3 theme can be downloaded from the 2009 Blu-ray page here on Spook Central.
  • Criterion Collection Laserdisc: Split-Screen Effects Comparison - Library Ghost.
  • Criterion Collection Laserdisc: Split-Screen Effects Comparison - Ballroom.
  • Criterion Collection Laserdisc: Ruth Oliver's Library Ghost Scream Test.
  • Criterion Collection Laserdisc: Hundreds Of Still Photos/Drawings/Storyboards/Text.
  • Criterion Collection Laserdisc/GB1 1999 DVD: Screenplay Text (was on-screen on LD, on DVD-ROM on DVD).
  • GB1 1999 DVD: All unaltered image galleries: Production Photos (288 images total), Conceptual Drawings (230 images total), Storyboards (361 images total). Storyboards originally had script text underneath.
  • GB2 1999 DVD: Talent & Filmographies. These are brief biographies and filmographies of the film's main cast with photos alongside.
  • GB1 2009 Blu-Ray: Making of Ghostbusters: The Video Game featurette.
  • GB1 2009 Blu-Ray: Ghostbusters: The Video Game "Atari Live/When Disaster Strikes" Trailer.
  • Big Daddy DVD: GB1/GB2 15th Anniversary Video/DVD Trailer. (This is the Adam Sandler movie from 1999.)
  • Rudyard Kipling's The Second Jungle Book VHS: The Original Extreme Ghostbusters opening title sequence. (This was among the trailers at the start of the original VHS release of this movie in 1997. Ideally, this will be ported over to an EGB: Complete Series DVD release - if Sony ever gives us one.)
  • The Mask of Zorro 1999 Bonus Disc DVD (Spanish Region): Ivan Reitman CTHV DVD Hype Video (1999). (Lee Taylor says that this video is from a bonus disc which came with The Mask of Zorro when it was first released back in 1999. Looking at the burnt-in Spanish subtitles, it probably was released only in Mexico, Spain, or some other Spanish-speaking region.)

Notes
  • The main menu background image appears to be the same as the 2014 Blu-ray, but there is one subtle difference. A photo of the four guys is reflected in the car windows, whereas it was just the three guys in the previous release.
  • At the end of the Ghostbusters TV Commercial Outtakes, the last 5-10 seconds is a couple of jumped still frames with no audio. I have no idea why it's like that, or why Sony didn't just cut that part out and add a fade to black there. Do rest assured that if you see that, your disc is fine.
  • The before and after special effects multi-angle comparison item named "Spook Central Exploding" should have been named "Firehouse Exploding". This error carries over from the original 1999 DVD, and was present on all home video releases since. It's a shame that no one corrected it by now. It's been 20 years for cryin' out loud!
  • The still images that originally appeared on the 1999 DVD that re-appear here were sourced from the 2005 DVD, where a horrible Oil Painting filter was put on them. As such, they are the ruined versions. This is also putting aside the fact that they are presented in the same manner as they originally were, which means tilted and framed with low resolution.
  • On September 26, 2023, Sony re-released the five-disc set as a "Limited Edition Reprint" with a MSRP of $65.99 (purchase link in the store), even though it was superseded by the eight-disc "Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection" set in 2022, which contained EVERYTHING (except for The Real Ghostbusters pilot) from this set PLUS MORE - including the third canonical film, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The Ultimate Collection set made this set pointless and redundant.
