Fun Facts

• The reporter corner and the subway entrance are literally on the same street, one block away from each other, with both of them being right next to City Hall. At the far end of Chambers Street, on the other side of City Hall, is the Municipal Building (the fictional City Hall Loading Dock in GB1), and that's a block or two down from the Courthouse.
• Behind the reporter, on the right of the shot, is a store with a "Men's Wear" sign above it. That store is Modell's Shoppers World, and it is inside the historic Sun Building (aka A.T. Stewart Company Store, Marble Palace) at 280 Broadway. It was the site of America's first department store, later housed the New York Sun newspaper (which published the famous "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" editorial on September 21, 1897), and is now used for city municipal offices. The building, clad in Tuckahoe marble, was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1965, and was designated a New York City landmark in 1986.
• As ghosts escape, we see one fly out of a subway station, which can be found at the City Hall RW train entrance on Broadway west of City Hall. The newsstand seems to have shifted south a block. (text written by Nick Carr)

Splash (1984)
During the chase near the end of the film, they drive up near City Hall. As they do, they pass by the old Modell's store that was behind the reporter in Ghostbusters. In the two-frame collage below, you can kinda see the "Modells" sign on the right side of the frame. The distinctive Sun Building clock is clearly seen.
