In preparation for the upcoming Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire movie set to be released next month (on March 22nd here in the U.S.), the folks at Hasbro have just released new Ecto-Stretch Tech Fright Feature action figures of the Spengler family... and Gary. Let's take a look at them...

The Ghostbusters are officially back in business, chasing down ghosts and ghouls through the streets of New York City! These Fright Features figures feature entertainment-inspired design and detail, 5 points of articulation, and come with a Ghostbusters toy Proton Pack with Ghostbusters blaster wand accessory. Also included is a Fright Feature ghost, featuring Ecto-Stretch Tech. This fun, rubbery, ghost easily stretches, so kids and collectors can pull it over the figure and imagine the terror.

The "Fright Feature" aspect of this toy line is that the ghost can be stretched and placed over the human figure. The human figure itself doesn't have any sort of "fright" feature. The packaging for each figure doesn't even say "fright feature" on it, but that's what Hasbro is calling this line in the product copy, so that's what I have to call them.

There is an opening in the back of each ghost.


Stretch that over the human figure so as to encapsulate the human inside the ghost.


The Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Ecto-Stretch Tech Fright Feature Figures carries a MSRP of $9.99 per figure and are available from a wide variety of retailers. I like the stylized look of the figures, but am really disappointed that the humans don't actually have the fright feature this time. Also, Phoebe and Trevor were part of the previous "Fright Feature" line - the new Trevor figure is exactly the same as the old one (other than the addition of a nametag) - so it would have been nice to get some new characters in their place. At least Phoebe has a new head sculpt this time around. Callie and Gary were not previously available in action figure form. I like that we finally have a "Hot Mom" action figure :-)
