Ghostbusters Day: The Album 2025 Audio CD Review

On June 7, 2025, the Buffalo Ghostbusters released Ghostbusters Day: The Album, a three-song CD first offered at Hook & Ladder #8 in New York City. I recently purchased the CD from the group's online store. Read on to find out more about it...
Before I get into this, I would like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the Spook Central VIPs for providing the funds that allowed me to buy this item and review it for all of you. This item was NOT provided by the manufacturer.
First, a quick list of the tracks.
1. 4:18 Ghostbusters Day -- The Alessi Brothers
2. 2:32 Party of Slime -- The Mad Splatter
3. 2:35 Ghosts Are Thriving (It's Ghostbusters Day) -- The Alessi Brothers
(total time - 9:25)
There isn't much here, so there isn't much to say, but I think I can squeeze out a few words. A small sample of each song is below.
01. Ghostbusters Day - Fellow Long Islanders, Billy and Bobby Alessi, the pop duo behind "Savin' The Day" fron the original Ghostbusters, are back with this easy listening tune dedicated to the annual Ghostbusters Day celebration.
02. Party of Slime - You better have your hand on the volume knob when Track 1 switches to Track 2 because not only does the volume change, but there's also a drastic change in music style. The Mad Splatter is punk rock, according to their Facebook page. Honestly, to me it just sounds like a bunch of noise. Reading over the lyrics, there's some nice words in the song, but it's all drowned out by overly loud guitars and drums. To quote Huey Lewis, "I'm afraid you're just too darn loud."
03. Ghosts Are Thriving (It's Ghostbusters Day) - Ahhhh, back to the "not making my ears bleed" Alessi brothers. This songs feels a bit more '80s Pop than their other song. It's fine, but a bit redundant given that both Alessi songs are about, and are titled/subtitled, "Ghostbusters Day".
The sound quality of the music is great, though I do wonder if there is a recording error at the end of Track 1. At the very end of the track right before the second track starts, there is a weird "Ahhh" about five seconds after the fade out. I'm not sure if it's intentional or an error. It sounds like an error to me. It's also present in the "official" 128kbps MP3 file given to CD buyers a few hours after purchase. Below is a clip, though I raised the volume to make it easier to hear.
Moving on, let's take a quick look at the CD packaging. I received my copy on April 13, 2026 from Buffalo Ghostbusters headquarters in Amherst, New York, taking just a few days to go from the upper to lower areas of the state. As seen in the photos below, the CD comes in a slim jewel case, which means that there is no back cover insert, and thus, no spine, either. (FYI: All images from here on can be enlarged. The front, interior, and disc images point to my 300dpi scans.)
The front cover features a drawing of the logo ghost hugging the firehouse while holding a fireman's tool. This rendition of the logo was drawn by Eric Christenson according to the interior credits.
While there is no back cover, the interior (printed on reverse of the front cover) features lyrics for all three songs and copyright and credit info.
The face of the disc features the album title and song list over a Hook & Ladder background.
Flip the disc over and we, sadly, find out that it's a RECORDED CD-R DISC! Nowhere on the online store is it ever stated that the CD is NOT a factory-pressed disc. This is an important detail to leave out. A lot of physical media collectors do not like recorded discs. Don't get me wrong. It is a well-made recorded disc with quality print work on the face. It's not a cheap inkjet-printed job. It's just that buyers should be aware that it's a CD-R disc, as that may matter to them.
There isn't anything more to this. It's a CD-R with beautiful disc and front artwork, and only three songs that, to my knowledge, are not available elsewhere. It cost me a total of $22.85 ($10.00 + $12.85 flat-rate Priority Mail shipping), which is a bit much for three songs. That's $7.61 per song! The reason for the high price is that the Buffalo Ghostbusters' online store only offers one single shipping option. I would have preferred paying half the shipping cost for Media Mail, but they set up their store with a "one price fits all" shipping option, so it can be used for the CD, patches, coins, and whatever else. So bear in mind the high shipping cost, should you want the CD while copies remain available. (Note: International shipping is likely even highly, so inquire with the Buffalo Ghostbusters if you live outside of the United States.)
Sadly, there does not seem to be a digital version available for sale, which may be the more affordable option for some. A Google Drive link WILL be provided to you a few hours after purchasing the CD, letting you download a .zip file containing 128kbps MP3s of the three songs and the front cover artwork, but you can't buy the MP3s by themselves.
Once all physical copies of the CD have been sold, it's possible that this album will become "out of print". I will update this review if I learn about another print run, or the availability of digital files. There is no guarantee of that, so if you want these three songs, or the CD, which is a nice novelty for your Ghostbusters or CD collection, GET IT NOW!
