Welcome to Spook Central's special "Shot On Site Summer" event. All throughout the month of July, and possibly the rest of the Summer, I will be posting Shot On Site articles on Spook Central detailing newly-discovered Ghostbusters filming locations.

Today's location was identified by
Matthew Jordan, who has been on a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse listed on my
Ghostbusters 1 & 2 Unidentified Filming Locations page. His goal is to identify every single exterior location that appears on that page. A hard task? Sure. An impossible task? Not the way Matthew's been going at it. He's surprised me by identifying locations that I never would have thought
could have been identified!
Now this is where I would set the scene and present a screen shot from the location as seen in the movie. I'm gonna break with protocol because today's location was identified in a rather unusual manner. It all started when I found the image below in my digital archives and asked Matthew if he could find the location of the two clearly marked shops, Dalva Brothers and J.M. Weston.
He found Dalva Brothers, which was at 44 East 57th Street for 60 years. It was when he visited the location in Google Maps' Street View that he found a location used in the movie, which is only a couple of stores down from Dalva Brothers.
I didn't notice the pictures had similar background buildings til after I "backed up" to the Phillips de Pury & Company. I was like, "something seems familiar here". Does this location look familiar to you, too?
No? How about if I toss up these screen shots from Ghostbusters II...
Yes, I unintentionally helped Matthew find the
Orrefors where the Ghostbusters had one of their more memorable montage busts. Normally in one of these Shot On Site articles I would put up a comparison image with arrows pointing to all of the points of connection between the movie shot and the real life photo. Since the location in Google's June 2011 image looks near-identical to how it looked way back in 1988 when Ghostbusters II was filmed there, I see no reason to point out the obvious. Just look at the photos and you can see that it's the same location: 58 East 57th Street. And if you need more proof, here's an old Orrefors advertisment from the
October 23, 1989 issue of New York magazine which clearly gives their address:
