Spook Central Holiday Gift - Ghostbusters II 9/29/1988 Script

Normally, Spook Central does an annual Halloween Treat, but not a Holiday Gift. Well, this year I have something special that is worthy of being a (perhaps one time only) HOLIDAY GIFT!

Spook Central's collection of Ghostbusters II script drafts is now one step closer to completion. I now have a copy of the September 29, 1988 draft, which has been added to the Ghostbusters II Scripts page as a belated Hanukkah gift, an on-time Christmas gift, an advanced Kwanzaa gift... and so on.

Although the story still focues on Lane Walker, Dana Barrett and Slimer are in, with Slimer first appearing on page 46. The River of Slime is in, however, the opening scene with the baby carriage is not motivated by contact with the slime as seen in the final cut of the film. This is because the slime, as a theme, developed over the course of production. The baby carriage scene was originally shot and cut with no slime. Close-ups of the slime were shot and added near the end of production to help link the slime incidents from beginning to end. The Statue of Liberty is now a hero element, the Ghost Jogger is in, and the Oscar possession scene has been replaced by the Ghost Nanny scene.

The late Tim Lawrence, creature shop supervisor for the film, had an autographed copy of this script for sale on eBay in May 2014.

Even though this script is the Spook Central Holiday Gift for everyone, Spook Central VIP members have gotten two additional gifts: Ghostbusters II Topps Cards (Raw Scans) and Ghostbusters Storyboards (Raw Scans).
