Mill Creek Entertainment's Andy Sidaris Blu-Ray Series Review
By Paul Rudoff on Aug. 4, 2020 at 11:45 PM in Home Video
The unmistakable formula of director Andy Sidaris: beautiful people filmed in exotic locations with an unapologetic amount of explosions, gunplay, and Playboy Playmates & Penthouse Pets, all with big-budget production values on a low budget.... and did I mention women in and out of sexy outfits? For the first time ever, you can own all 12 L.E.T.H.A.L. films on Blu-ray Disc. Read on to find out more...
(Andy with his ladies)
Long before Marvel had their "cinematic universe", Andy Sidaris created his own "L.E.T.H.A.L. Ladies Cinematic Universe". From 1985 to 1998, through the course of a dozen films, writer/director Andy Sidaris showed us how the agents of L.E.T.H.A.L. (Legion to Ensure Total Harmony And Law) worked and played. The films weren't trying to be Oscar-winners, and they usually followed the same formula, but they did the trick for the VHS generation. These films were popular mainstays on cable and premium channels, such as Cinemax and USA. The history of the Malibu Bay Films empire that Andy built was chronicled in the 2003 book "Bullets, Bombs and Babes: The Films of Andy Sidaris".
Around the time of the book's release, Brentwood/BCI Eclipse released all twelve films on DVD, with recently-recorded bonus features. Now, in 2020, Mill Creek Entertainment has released all of the films on Blu-ray. They have ported over, presumably, all of those bonus features to these new Blu-ray releases. Mill Creek's previous "Girls, Guns and G-Strings" DVD set of the 12 films together had very little bonus content.
(Day of the Warrior)
All of the movies are rated R, contain nudity and sexual situations, and are presented in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio. Audio is provided in English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, and there are only English SDH subtitles. Here is some brief information on each movie, taken from the back of the "Girls, Guns and G-Strings" DVD case. Click on each movie title to pop up the trailer.

A hidden treasure trove on a remote Pacific island is being sought by a group of evil men who plan to use the fortune to support their criminal endeavors. Standing in the way of the bad guys are the lovely female agents of L.E.T.H.A.L., who have the computer disc that contains the location of the treasure.
All of you pro-wrestling fans will note the appearances of WCW's Marcus "Buff" Bagwell in the last two films (read the Wrestlecrap induction of Day of the Warrior), Beckie Mullen (G.L.O.W.'s Sally, the Farmer's Daughter) in Hard Hunted, and (not technically pro-wrestling) Raye Hollitt (American Gladiators' Zap) in Day of the Warrior. It was the appearance of Buff Bagwell that originally drew me to these films back in the 1990s.
(Day of the Warrior)
All 12 discs contain the same type of bonus features, though the content is different. As far as I know, all of this material was originally recorded in the early 2000s. That makes sense since Andy passed away on March 7, 2007. They are presented in standard definition in the original 4:3 aspect ratio.
- Audio Commentary - with writer/director Andy Sidaris and wife/producer Arlene Sidaris.
- Introduction - with Andy Sidaris and Julie Strain.
- Behind The Scenes - A large collection of supplementary material from the Malibu Bay archives, including various B-Roll footage, Joe Bob Briggs "Joe Bob's Drive-In Theater" interview clips, and "Film School" segments for the various 12 films. It should be noted that these are NOT specific to the movie on each disc, which is annoying.
- Trailers - The same trailers for all 12 films can be found on each disc.
- Easter Egg - On the Chapter Select menu, highlight "Introduction by Andy & Julie", press RIGHT to highlight the female icon, press ENTER. The short clip is different on each disc.
(Do or Die)
The dozen L.E.T.H.A.L Ladies films are not available in a box set on Blu-ray. Maybe one day they will be, but until that happens, you will have to buy them individually.

If you're dead-set on buying DVDs, the old out-of-print Ventura Distribution and Brentwood/BCI Eclipse releases are available from various second-hand sellers. Ventura released the six-film set, while Brentwood/BCI Eclipse released the rest. As far as I can see, Ventura did not release a second volume containing the remaining six films, so if you want them all, you'll have to buy the four 3-film sets.
- The Andy Sidaris Collection Volume 1 (6-Film DVD Set) - Malibu Express, Hard Ticket To Hawaii, Picasso Trigger, Savage Beach, Guns, and Enemy Gold.
- Bullets, Bombs, and Babes Volume 1 (3-Film DVD Set) - Malibu Express, Hard Ticket To Hawaii, Fit to Kill.
