This year's holiday gift - a late Hanukkah, early Christmas gift - is a very rare audio CD entitled WCW Christmas Brawl. While the name is appropriate for this holiday, I assure you that this disc does NOT feature wrestlers singing Christmas carols. Read on to find out more about it...

WCW Christmas Brawl Theme Songs - Limited Edition, as seems to be the complete title, is an audio CD that was sold during the "WCW Christmas Brawl 96" tour in Germany in 1996, and also made available to German World of Wrestling fan club members. This CD, which features the Jimmy Hart/JJ Mcguire-penned theme songs of several World Championship Wrestling stars of the era, was never sold outside of Germany. Due to the extremely limited nature of release, which was 25 years ago, it should come as no surprise that it's out-of-print and quite rare. So, I thought that this would be a great item to share with all of you.

There is a defect in Track 7 ("California Sun") at the 1:24 mark which is in all copies of the CD, as it is heard in online rips, as well as my original CD.


If you don't want to download the 320kbps MP3s of each song individually, you can grab them all in this 43MB zip file courtesy of the WCW Worldwide website. (Do note that the filenames and ID3 tags for a few songs have typos in them.) The ZIP file only contains MP3s. It does not contain the CD artwork. So, I have scanned it all in. As you can see, the only wrestler that is featured is Alex Wright, which makes sense since he's German, and that's where this album was released. You may also notice a few typos in the names on the front and back covers.


Some of these tracks are available on the digital-only album WWE: The Music of WCW, but this rare and out-of-print CD is the only way to get them all. Thanks to myself, and the other wrestling fans, you don't have to pay $62 for an original disc (mine came from an eBay seller in Italy), unless you really want to. Burn the MP3s to a CD, print out all of the artwork, and you'll have a decent reproduction copy for much, much less.

If you want more WCW theme songs, you'll need to get two other rare and out-of-print audio CDs: WCW Slam Jam 1 (1992) and Solluna's World Wrestling Theme Library 2 (2002). The latter is a Japanese disc that features production music (aka stock library music) that WCW licensed for their programs. Solluna's first Theme Library CD contains WWF production music from 2001. I own all of these CDs; having just bought the Theme Library 2 CD earlier this year from an eBay seller in Japan for the whopping sum of $147.97 (the most expensive CD I ever purchased!). If they're not already available elsewhere online, maybe I'll make them available as future holiday gifts. (PS: Yes, there was a CD entitled WCW Mayhem: The Music that was released around 1999/2000, but I don't have it because it's crap.)
