Arrow Video recently released True Romance (1993) on 4K UHD. Read on to find out more about it...
[ SYNOPSIS ]
Elvis-worshipping comic book store employee Clarence Worley (Christian Slater) is minding his own business at a Sonny Chiba triple bill when Alabama Whitman (Patricia Arquette) walks into his life - and from then on, the two are inseparable. Within 24 hours, they're married and on the run after Clarence is forced to kill Alabama's possessive, psychopathic pimp. Driving a Cadillac across the country from Detroit to Hollywood, the newlyweds plan to sell off a suitcase full of stolen drugs to fund a new life for themselves... but little do they suspect that the cops and the Mafia are closing in on them. Will they escape and make their dream of a happy ending come true?
[ SPECIFICATIONS ]
The movie is presented in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with a runtime of 2:00:36 for the Director's Cut and 1:58:14 for the Theatrical Cut. (Read the Movie-Censorship report for a comparison of both versions.) The movie has been rated R for strong violence and language, and for sexuality and drug use. Audio languages include English. Subtitle languages include English SDH.
[ SPECIAL FEATURES ]
All of the content listed below can be found on the 4K UHD disc. A few of the interviews run shorter than the original U.K. release, so they may be edited. Also, the "Cadillac Man" featurette from that release, which was an eight-minute interview with Dan Storm, a superfan who ended up with the iconic purple Cadillac from the film, was not ported over to this U.S. release.

Arrow's PR firm only sent a check disc for review purposes, so I wasn't privy to the exceptional "Limited Edition" packaging and non-disc swag that Arrow has included with this release. A 60-page perfect bound collectors' booklet featuring new writing by Kim Morgan and Nicholas Clement along with other interesting information and data is included, as is a double-sided poster featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Sara Deck. Six double-sided postcard-sized lobby card reproductions are housed in the keepcase.
[ NOTES ]
For those interested in various packaging options, Arrow has really gone the extra mile with the following variant releases: There's a "Limited Edition", with all of the swag and packaging listed in the "Additional Information" section above, that is available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and Steelbook 4K UHD + Blu-ray Combo Pack. A standard Steelbook 4K UHD + Blu-ray Combo Pack has a 30-page booklet (instead of 60-page) and forgoes the poster and lobby card reproductions. For lots of screenshots and menu images from the U.K. release, go check out The Big Movie House's review.
