[ NOTES ]
Girlfight (2000) is available on Blu-ray from Criterion, and DVD from Columbia Tristar. The film itself is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Quite a powerful performance by Michelle Rodriguez in her debut film. The movie looks good on the Blu-ray, so kudos to Criterion for that, however...
Normally, Criterion does an excellent job of porting over all of the extras from previous releases. Unfortunately, they dropped the ball here. Looking over the DVD list on DVD Compare, I see so many vintage extras not included on this new Blu-ray. The American Columbia Tristar DVD includes a "Making Of" featurette that runs for 5:25, while the Australian Tribe Enterprises DVD includes one that runs for 6:12. I don't know if they're the same thing. The Tribe DVD also includes Cast and Crew Interviews (5:23), while the German Euro Video DVD contains two separate interviews with Michelle Rodriguez (4:31) and Karyn Kusama (2:38). Both foreign DVDs contain music videos, with the German disc having two of them: "I Can Do Too" by Cole feat. Queen Latifah (3:41) and "No Retreat" by Dilated People feat. B Real (3:56). All of that stuff should have been on this new Criterion Blu-ray.
