Warehouse 13: The Complete Series Blu-ray Review
By Paul Rudoff on Jul. 12, 2024 at 7:00 PM in Home Video
Universal recently re-released the Warehouse 13: The Complete Series Blu-ray. Read on to find out more about it...
[ SYNOPSIS ]
Within the walls of Warehouse 13 live the strangest and most dangerous artifacts quietly filed away history. When these artifacts ping, it's up to Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock), Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly), Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti), Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore), and Artie Nielsen (Saul Rubinek) to embark on nonstop missions filled with harmful historical heirlooms, vindictive villains, and extraordinary exploits.
[ EPISODES ]
The 15-disc set includes all 63 episodes of the five seasons that aired on Syfy from July 7, 2009 to May 19, 2014. Since these are the same discs that were originally released in 2016, it is my unfortunate duty to report that MUSIC HAS BEEN REPLACED ON THE BLU-RAY. Yeah, I was hoping that Universal would have restored it for this new re-release, but that is not the case. Comparing to the Warehouse 13 song lists at TuneFind, there are several episodes that have had music replaced on all three audio tracks. I did not go through the entire set to find them all, but it might just be relegated to Season 1, as listed below. (This is a list of all Season 1 music listed at TuneFind and has not been 100% verified by me, except where I added timecodes. I have not checked any other seasons.) Interestingly, the original music appears in the Region 1 (U.S.) DVD set. This leads me to believe that the DVDs were cleared for U.S. release only, while the Blu-rays were cleared for international release. Securing the music rights for just the U.S. is different than internationally, and Universal wanted to make Blu-ray discs that it could use worldwide. I have read that the streaming versions also have music replacements, so it seems like Universal cleared an "international" version for all streaming services and the Blu-rays.
- Season 1, Episode 1: "Pilot" - Replaced music (probably) includes Rhianna's "Disturbia" (when Peter is driving out to the warehouse for the first time), and Adaline's "We've Got Something" (when Pete and Myka go to see Emily at her workplace).
- Season 1, Episode 2: "Resonance" - Replaced music (probably) includes Yello's "Oh Yeah" (when the Chicago investigator first walks in), and Edward Rogers's "Sleep and Be One" (end scene where they collect the LP from Marsden's home).
- Season 1, Episode 3: "Magnetism" - Replaced music (probably) includes Oliver Colbentson & Erich Appel's "The Dance of the Goblins (La ronde des lutins), Op. 25: Scherzo Fantastique" (at the beginning of the show, after which the performer breaks the violin bow over his knee).
- Season 1, Episode 4: "Claudia" - Replaced music (probably) includes Opposite Direction's "Union of Knives", Santigold's "I'm a Lady (feat. Trouble Andrew)", Carolina Liar's "I'm Not Over", Thievery Corporation's "Shadows of Ourselves", V. V. Brown's "Back In Time", Sofi Bonde's "Fallout", Glass Pear's "Wild Place", Matt Nathanson's "All We Are", The Submarines's "Brightest Hour (Morgan Page Remix)", and Viva Voce's "Believer".
- Season 1, Episode 5: "Elements" - Replaced music (probably) includes Portishead's "Only You" (when a mysterious being is going through walls in NYC).
- Season 1, Episode 6: "Burnout" - Replaced music (probably) includes Kevin Rudolf's "Let It Rock" (when the gang member comes to warn his friends).
- Season 1, Episode 7: "Implosion" - Replaced music (probably) includes Puscifer's "Queen B".
- Season 1, Episode 8: "Duped" - Replaced music includes Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" (at 3:47 when the disco ball is unleashed), Frank Sinatra's "Luck Be A Lady" (at 9:39 on the Las Vegas establishing shots), and Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" (at 38:34 when Alice/Myka returns to the warehouse).
- Season 1, Episode 9: "Regrets" - Replaced music (probably) includes Lady GaGa's "Boys Boys Boys" (in the opening club scene), Moby's "Porcelain" (when Myka is deciding if she will read the Denver report), and Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" (when Alice returns to the Warehouse to break the mirror).
- Season 1, Episode 10: "Breakdown" - Replaced music (probably) includes The Cure's "Just Like Heaven" (while Claudia is tinkering with the auto-vac in the opening scene), and Moby's "Porcelain".
- Season 1, Episode 11: "Nevermore" - Replaced music (probably) includes Pixies's "Wave of Mutilation" (when the boy is getting bullied at school).
- Season 1, Episode 12: "MacPherson" - Replaced music (probably) includes The Jimi Hendrix Experience's "Purple Haze" (when Myka looks through Leary's glasses before they go down into the hidden bunker).
The show is presented in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The show is Not Rated. Audio languages include English, German, and Italian. Subtitle languages include English SDH, German, and Italian.

If you need to tell them apart, the 2024 release has a black bar with the Blu-ray logo atop the front, while 2016 release has a blue Blu-ray logo alongside the title graphic on the front. The rest of the logo and legal changes are very minor.
[ NOTES ]
Warehouse 13: The Complete Series is available on Blu-ray (2024 Re-Release), Blu-ray (2016 Release), and DVD. If you want all of the original music, you'll need to buy the DVD, but you lose out on having the show in high-definition. If you want the show in high-definition, either Blu-ray release is fine, but music has been replaced. The choice is up to you, unless you buy them both.
