Criterion is set to release the Risky Business (1983) 4K UHD + Blu-ray on July 23rd. Read on to find out more about it...
[ SYNOPSIS ]
Joel (Tom Cruise) is a Chicago suburban prepster whose college-bound life spirals out of control when his parents go out of town for the week and enterprising call girl Lana (Rebecca De Mornay) invites him to walk on the wild side.
[ SPECIFICATIONS ]
The movie is presented in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with a runtime of 1:39:14 (for both Director's Cut and Theatrical Cut). The Theatrical Cut of the movie has been rated R. Audio languages include English. Subtitle languages include English SDH. As far as I can see, the only difference between the two cuts is the ending.

All of the content listed below can be found the Blu-ray disc. The 4K disc only contains the movie (both cuts) and commentary.

- Trailer (1:29)
Included inside the thick clear two-disc overlapped case is a 13"x19" fold-out poster featuring the original theatrical poster artwork, with the essay "Coming of Age in Reagan's America" by Dave Kehr on the reverse (along with credits and transfer information).
[ NOTES ]
Risky Business (1983) is available on 4K UHD + Blu-ray and Individual Blu-ray. Criterion did an excellent job with the film transfer. It looks fabulous in ultra high-definition, and the story still holds up 40 years later. Do be aware that Warner Brother's 2008 Blu-ray contains a video portion to the Brickman/Avnet/Cruise commentary, along with a brief 84-second introduction to it (by all three parties), and an audio introduction by Paul Brickman to the alternate ending (which is on that disc separately). If these are important to you, you can grab a cheap copy of that disc to go along with this new 4K/Blu-ray set. Otherwise, this new Criterion release is the only one you need.
