[ SPECIAL FEATURES ]
All of the content listed below can be found the UHD disc.
- Audio Commentary - by director Jan de Bont and visual effects supervisor Stefen Fangmeier.
- The Legacy of Twister: Taken by the Wind (15:14) - A 2024 featurette that starts off with a new interview with Jan de Bont, and then turns into a more traditional behind-the-scenes retrospective.
- Chasing the Storm: Twister Revisited (29:00) - A 2007 featurette that also begins with a Jan de Bont interview before moving on to be a basic making-of feature.
- HBO First Look: The Making of Twister (14:04) - This 1996 promotional feature recaps the plot of the movie, intercut with scenes, as well as interviews with the cast and crew.
- Anatomy of a Twister (8:34) - This 2000 featurette, originally from the two-disc Special Edition DVD, covers much of the same ground as the others.
- Van Halen Music Video: Humans Being (3:36) - This 1996 music video was released as promotion for the movie during its original theatrical run. It was originally presented in 4:3 Letterbox, but the blackness at the top and bottom have been cropped off, presenting it in 16:9 widescreen. Furthermore, the already standard-definition image has been upscaled into 1920x1080, so the quality is rather soft as a result.
A digital copy code voucher is included inside the standard one-disc black UHD case. A shiny slipcover is included.
[ NOTES ]
Twister (1996) is available on 4K UHD (2024), Blu-ray (2008), and DVD (Two-Disc Special Edition, 2007). As has been the case with Warner Brothers since mid-2023, each disc is sold separately; there are no Combo Pack releases. This is a shame since the 4K disc features an improved color grading for the movie which is not available separately on Blu-ray. It should also be noted that the 2008 Blu-ray contains some extras that are missing here: "Nature Tech: Tornadoes" (45:18), a History Channel special from 2003 that looks at scientific advances in predicting violent storms, and two theatrical trailers (2:05 & 2:08).
