[ SYNOPSIS ]
Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn't just help you craft, it's essential to one's survival! Four misfits - Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) - find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Jack Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative... the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.

[ NOTES ]
A Minecraft Movie (2025) is available on 4K UHD, 4K UHD Steelbook, Blu-ray, and DVD. I will admit that I am not a big Minecraft fan. I have a copy of it for the PlayStation 3, but never played much of it, much less enough to be well versed in the lore. So, any "fan service" in the movie went right over my head. So, I had to take the movie on face value as a movie. That doesn't put the movie in a very favorable position as the story and characters are so bland and generic that there's really no fun to be had. Jack Black and Jason Momoa are the stars, given a really weird "bromance" storyline that see them - and I wish I were making this up - literally 69'ing with each other. The closeted couple take any and all focus away from the supposed main character played by Sebastian Hansen. The adorable Emma Myers (Enid on Wednesday), and Danielle Brooks, the only two females in the main motley crew, are given absolutely NOTHING to do. They split-up from the three males, and fundamentally disappear from the movie until the end. The only female that actually gets a bit of a spotlight is Jennifer Coolidge, who although providing the film's only laughs, is wasted in an unnecessary subplot that has no bearing on the main story. On the positive side, the film is bright and colorful with beautiful pixelation set design and impeccable CGI. The green screen, like Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, is seamless. So, at least A Minecraft Movie is nice to look it.
