Paramount recently released the Small Soldiers (1998) (Steelbook) 4K UHD + Blu-ray. Read on to find out more about it...
[ SYNOPSIS ]
The Commando Elite are action figures with an attitude -- not to mention military-grade computer chips. When they break out of their boxes, two teenagers enlist the kindhearted rival Gorgonites to save their town before it's turned upside down.
[ SPECIFICATIONS ]
The movie is presented in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with a runtime of 1:49:39 on the 4K disc and 1:49:46 on the Blu-ray. The 4K cuts out the Dreamworks logo at the end and freezes on the "For Phil" screen that precedes. The movie has been rated PG-13 for some menacing action/violence and brief drug references. Audio languages include English. Subtitle languages include English SDH.
[ SPECIAL FEATURES ]
All of the content listed below can be found on the Blu-ray disc. The 4K disc only has the movie.
- A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Making of Small Soldiers (11:20) - This 1998 featurette looks at the cast and characters, puppets and puppeteering, practical and digital effects, voice work, and more.
- From the Cutting Room Floor: Bloopers (4:56)
- Theatrical Trailer (2:13)
A digital copy code voucher is included inside the beautiful Steelbook case, which features Chip Hazard and Archer facing off at the top, and in a smaller silhouette above the film's title, with some of the Commando Elite appear standing below the title; with a red and blue color scheme in the background. The back cover shows the X-1000 microprocessor with some electricity coming out of it, against a blue background. Inside is a two-panel spread with silhouettes of Archer on the left and Chip Hazard on the right, both with the X-1000 microprocessor centered in their heads; all against a circuit board background.
[ NOTES ]
Small Soldiers (1998) is available on 4K UHD + Blu-ray Steelbook, Blu-ray, and DVD. It's a fun film that still holds up today just as much as it did over 25 years ago. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
