If you were given some gift cards for the holidays and are looking for some videos to spend them on, join me as I do a quick review round-up of some recent new home video releases...
All of the items below have already been released and are available for purchase from Amazon at the links provided. The Corner Penthouse will earn a very tiny commission from your purchase using these links.

Mr. Right (2015)
• BUY IT: Blu-ray (2025 Release), Blu-ray (2016 Release), DVD.
• SYNOPSIS: The road to true love is paved with knives and bullets in this killer comedy. Unlucky in love and with terrible taste in men, Martha (Anna Kendrick) bumps into Francis (Sam Rockwell) and finally meets the man of her dreams. Sweet and charming, he seems the perfect match until Martha discovers Francis is a world-class assassin whose enemies are trying to kill him and can't quite decide as body counts rise whether to join in the mayhem or dump him.
• SPECIAL FEATURES: All of the content below can be found on the Blu-ray disc.
- A Sweet Couple (1:09) - Anna Kendrick recounts the film, including plot and characterization.
• NOTES: A fun romantic comedy action film that I originally saw almost ten years ago and have liked it ever since. RECOMMENDED. The 2025 and 2016 releases are exactly the same. The 2016 release eventually went out of print, and the 2025 release brings it back in print. Both are factory-pressed discs, even though 2025 is MOD (Manufacture On Demand).

Nosferatu: The Real Story (2024)
• BUY IT: MOD Recorded Blu-ray, MOD Recorded DVD-R.
• SYNOPSIS: Nosferatu was a silent horror film, an unauthorized Dracula adaptation. Despite a court order to destroy it, surviving copies became highly influential in cinema. This documentary traces its origins, impact, and legacy, leading to the 2024 remake.
• SPECIAL FEATURES: All of the content below can be found on the Blu-ray disc.
- Official Trailer (1:17)
- Trinity Trailer Reel (8:23) - Trailers for other films: Scarlet Winter (2023), Wicked: The Real Story (2024), The 100 Candles Game: The Last Possession (2023), Cara (2024), and BAM! (2024).
• NOTES: This documentary was released last year in advance of the new Universal film, which I reviewed here. Nosferatu (2024) is available on 4K UHD, 4K UHD Steelbook, Blu-ray and DVD. The original 1922 film starring Max Schreck is available on Blu-ray. The 1979 film starring Klaus Kinski is available on 4K UHD + Blu-ray and Blu-ray. The Real Story documentary is a nice added feature to all of them.

- The John C. Reilly Files (14:45) - Three outtakes and extended scenes including "Swim Trunks", "Waiting for Todd", and "Mixing with Nick".

• NOTES: Includes a slipcover, but the disc is missing the Theatrical Trailer (2:24) from the 2010 Blu-ray, and the DVD Easter Egg (unless I missed it): On Disc 1, watch the "Color Bars" and wait 20 seconds for an Extended Sequence (3:20) at the Adult Awards ceremony whereby Robert Ridgely (as The Colonel James) gives an extended riff about Dirk Diggler. That leads into Diggler's "Screen Test".

Gabriel swaps Arj's life with a wealthy venture capitalist, Jeff (Seth Rogen), but the plan backfires when Arj is convinced his newfound wealth has, in fact, solved all his problems. - Theatrical Trailer (2:23)

• SPECIAL FEATURES: All of the content below can be found on the noted Blu-ray discs. There are two new retrospective pieces, as well as several items ported over from Golden Collection, Volume One and The Complete CinemaScope Collection, plus a few from the Spotlight Collection DVD set.
- DISCS 1-5: Audio Commentaries - A total of 20 shorts - including "Puss Gets the Boot", "The Night Before Christmas", "The Yankee Doodle Mouse", "The Zoot Cat", "Mouse Trouble", "Quiet Please!", "The Cat Concerto", "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Mouse", and more - include optional DVD-era commentaries featuring author Michael Mallory, animator Mark Kausler, animation historians Jerry Beck and Earl Kress, comedienne Nicole Parker, and others.
- DISC 6: Lady of the House: The Story of Mammy Two Shoes (27:41) - This new (finally completed in) 2025 featurette pays tribute to the controversial supporting character, her history, her importance to the franchise, and the vocal contributions of actress Lillian Randolph. Participants include animation historian Jerry Beck, critic/author Charles Solomon, author Michael Mallory, writer/producer Rodney Barnes, animator/writer Floyd Norman, film historian/author Dr. Donald Bogle, animator/director Mark Kausler, voice actors June Foray and Keith Scott, and more.
- DISC 6: Animal Hijinks: The Friends and Foes of Tom (30:58) - This new 2025 featurette discusses the roster of supporting animal characters - such as Spike and Tyke, Nibbles, Butch, Quacker, Muscles, Toots, Toodles - and how their inclusion added more flavor and occasional exposition. Participants include Jerry Beck, Eric Goldberg, Michael Mallory, cartoon producer John R. Dilworth, animation historians David Gerstein and Will Friedwald, and others.
- DISC 6: The Midnight Snack Pencil Test - Side by Side (9:01) - Obviously a relic from the DVD era, where it was presented as 4:3 letterbox (black bars at top and bottom). Since all old 4:3 content has been upscaled and pillarboxed into a 1920x1080 frame, this is now windowboxed with substantial blackness on all four sides! It should have been reformatted into proper 16:9 framing.
- DISC 6: Cat and Mouse: The Tale of Tom and Jerry (31:39) - A 2007 featurette.
- DISC 6: Tom and Jerry: Behind the Tunes (17:09) - A 2004 featurette.
- DISC 6: Animators as Actors (7:15) - A 2005 featurette.
- DISC 6: 1953 Excerpt from Dangerous When Wet (7:50) - A clip of the animated duo swimming with a live-action Esther Williams in a dream sequence. The clip can be viewed online here.
- DISC 6: How Bill and Joe Met Tom and Jerry (27:12) - A 2004 featurette.
- DISC 6: Vaudeville, Slapstick and Tom and Jerry (22:47) - A 2011 featurette.
- DISC 6: The Comedy Stylings of Tom and Jerry (5:30) - This featurette is undated, but looks to have come from the early 2000s (when the commentaries were recorded).
- DISC 6: "The Worry Song" from Anchors Aweigh (9:08) - A clip of the animated Jerry dancing with a live-action Gene Kelly in the 1945 film.
- DISC 6: Good Will to Men (1955) (8:29) - A cautionary tale about destructive post-WWII warfare featuring mice.
- DISC 6: Give and Tyke (1957) (6:38) - One of two spin-off Spike and Tyke cartoons, this one showing the poor pup in trouble after a stray dog steals his license to avoid a trip to the local pound.
- DISC 6: Scat Cats (1957) (6:29) - The other Spike and Tyke short, which finds them in charge of the house, until Butch the cat calls his friends over for a big party.
• NOTES: All six discs are stored in a slightly-thick case with each disc on it's own page. A slipcover is also included, between which sits a 28-page booklet titled "The Art of Tom and Jerry" that features sketches from a handful of cartoons, as well as timeline featuring character debuts and other notable events. Sadly, this booklet doesn't include a list of the shorts and what discs they are on.
If I had one complaint, it's that the alternate "politically correct" versions of some shorts are not included. The "Lady of the House" featurette informs that in an effort to "correct" the Mammy Two Shoes character, two attempts to "fix" her were made. In the 1960s, some shorts were re-animated with a white Irish woman in her place, voiced by June Foray. In the 1990s, the character was re-voiced by Thea Vidale, who gave her a more sophisticated voice. Clips from both versions are shown in the featurette, and one of the other featurettes, but the complete alternate versions of these shorts are not here. For the sake of being complete, I would have liked to have had them here. I also hope that the 47 shorts from the 1960s are eventually released on Blu-ray. Despite this, this set is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Based on my research, this set can 100% replace the "Golden Collection, Volume One" Blu-ray and the "Complete CinemaScope Collection" Blu-ray (which I reviewed just ten months ago!)

Hazbin Hotel: Season 1 (2024)
• BUY IT: Blu-ray.
• SYNOPSIS: This adult animated musical series follows Charlie (Erika Henningsen), the princess of Hell, as she pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. After a yearly extermination that was imposed by Heaven, she opens a hotel in the hopes that patrons will be "checking out" after proving their souls are redeemable.
• SPECIAL FEATURES: All of the content below can be found on the Blu-ray discs.
- Audio Commentary (on all 8 episodes) - with Vivienne Medrano, Sam Miller, and Skye Henwood.
• NOTES: The thick 2-disc clear Blu-ray case (about the size of what Criterion uses) has both discs overlapped on the right side. On the left side is stored a fold-out 10.5" x 17" poster (same image as the cover art) and a "Hate Watch" foil promo card. All is stored inside an embossed slipcover. The images below can be clicked on for enlargements.

Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000-2024): The Complete Series
• BUY IT: Blu-ray, DVD.
• SYNOPSIS: This iconic Emmy and Golden Globe winning semi-improvised comedy series stars creator Larry David as an over-the-top, self-absorbed version of himself who finds endless ways to make a mess of his pretty, pretty good life. Offering a tongue-in-cheek depiction of the writer/producer/comedian's fictionalized world and friends, Curb Your Enthusiasm follows Larry's awkward everyday encounters, social missteps and knack for turning mundane situations into chaotic disasters, often leading to hilariously uncomfortable situations.
• SPECIAL FEATURES: All of the content below can be found on the Blu-ray discs. None of the previously-released commentary tracks are included, despite online sources claiming that they are. All of the extras on the first seven seasons appear to be in the wrong aspect ratio; all widened to various degrees.
- SEASON 1, DISC 2: Bob Costas Interview (29:19)
- SEASON 1, DISC 2: HBO Special (59:00)

- SEASON 12, DISC 2: Larry's Favorite Episodes (2:56)
- SEASON 12, DISC 2: Larry-isms (1:54)
• NOTES: All episodes are presented in a 1.78:1 aspect, even though the first six seasons were originally broadcast in 1.33:1. The re-framings cause many tops of heads to be cut off. Furthermore, the first six seasons are presented at 24 fps, which gives the native 30i material a jerky quality that may be more distracting for some viewers than others. The set is packaged in two thick crappy Epik Pak cases, one for seasons 1 through 6 and one for seasons 7 through 12, stored inside a side-loading slipbox.

Ted Lasso (2020-2023): The Richmond Way
• BUY IT: 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD.
• SYNOPSIS: In a bitter divorce settlement from her husband, Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) becomes the new owner of AFC Richmond, a struggling Premier League football team. Her first order of business is to fire the team's current manager and replace him with a small-time American football coach, Theodore "Ted" Lasso (Jason Sudeikis). Ted and assistant Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) cross the pond to manage the team. Richmond is about to change the way they do things. From now on, it's the Lasso way.
• SPECIAL FEATURES: There are none.
• RATING: Not Rated.
• NOTES: This isn't marked as the "Complete Series" because a fourth season will premiere sometime in 2026. So, this can be thought of as "Seasons 1-3". It remains to be seen if there will be a "Complete Series" set later on. Unlike the other Warner TV sets I reviewed in this post, each one of the three seasons is in it's own case, with all three cases stored in a side-loading slipbox.
