The Good Shepherd (2006)
• BUY IT: Blu-ray, DVD.
• SYNOPSIS: Edward Wilson (Matt Damon) believes in America, and will sacrifice everything he loves to protect it, but as one of the covert founders of the CIA, Edward's youthful idealism is slowly eroded by his growing suspicion of the people around him. Everybody has secrets... but will Edward's destroy him?

The Chase (1966)
• BUY IT: Blu-ray, DVD.
• SYNOPSIS: Bubber Reeves (Robert Redford) escapes prison and sets his sights on returning to his small hometown in Texas, where his lonely wife Anna (Jane Fonda) seeks comfort in the arms of another man. The local sheriff, Calder (Marlon Brando), who believes Reeves is innocent of the crime that put him behind bars, struggles to maintain order amidst rising panic.
• SPECIAL FEATURES: There are no special features on the Blu-ray disc.
• RATING: Not Rated.
• NOTES: Not to be confused with other films with bear the title The Chase, such as the 1994 film starring Charlie Sheen and Kristy Swanson, this 1966 feature also stars Robert Duvall, Angie Dickinson, Janice Rule, E.G. Marshall, and James Fox in Sam Spiegel's gripping tale of justice and betrayal. This Alliance Blu-ray contains the movie only. If you want extras, and you can afford paying a higher price, there are some supposedly region-free foreign Blu-rays from Twilight Time, Umbrella Entertainment, and Indicator. I can't vouch for any of them, as I only have the Alliance Blu-ray, which I'm happy with.

We Bury The Dead (2024)
• BUY IT: Blu-ray, DVD.
• SYNOPSIS: After a catastrophic military disaster, the dead don't just rise - they hunt. The military insists they are harmless and slow-moving, offering hope to grieving families. But when Ava (Daisy Ridley) enters a quarantine zone searching for her missing husband, she uncovers the horrifying truth: the undead are growing more violent, more relentless, and more dangerous with every passing hour.
• SPECIAL FEATURES: There are no special features on the Blu-ray disc.
• RATING: R for strong violent content, gore, language and brief drug use.
• NOTES: For some reason, U.S. distributor Vertical Entertainment has opted to not include any extras on the Blu-ray. Australian distributor Umbrella Entertainment is set to release the film on 4K UHD + Blu-ray on July 8, 2026. It is reported to have lots of extras, but I don't know if the Blu-ray disc will be region-free. The 4K disc will be, of course, but it may not have the extras on it. It is up to you whether to wait three months and pay a bit more for the Australian import, or to get this movie-only Blu-ray now.

Lurker (2025)
• BUY IT: Blu-ray, DVD.
• SYNOPSIS: When twenty-something Los Angeles retail clerk and loner Matthew (Theodore Pellerin) encounters rising pop star Oliver (Archie Madekwe), he takes the opportunity to edge his way into the in-crowd. But staying there isn't easy. With an entire entourage (Havana Rose Liu, Zack Fox, Daniel Zolghadri, Sunny Suljic) vying for attention, Matthew must prove himself to Oliver as more than just a follower. As their bond grows strained and mainstream fame appears within reach, access and proximity become a matter of life and death.
• SPECIAL FEATURES: There are no special features on the Blu-ray disc.
• RATING: R for language throughout and some sexual content.

The Running Man (1987)
• BUY IT: 4K UHD, 4K UHD Steelbook, Blu-ray (2023 Paramount), Blu-ray (2010 Lionsgate), DVD (Artisan 2-Disc Special Edition).
• SYNOPSIS: Set in a dystopic 2017 Los Angeles - now a police state in the wake of the global economy's total collapse - "The Running Man" is the hottest-rated reality competition series, where condemned criminals are given a chance for freedom by running through a gauntlet of heavily armed killers known as "Stalkers". When an ex-cop (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is wrongly convicted of a violent crime, he finds himself on the series in the company of other prisoner "contestants".
• SPECIAL FEATURES: There are no special features on the Paramount Blu-ray disc.
• RATING: R.
• NOTES: Ok, this one is not a new release, as this Paramount Blu-ray of the 1987 film came out in 2023. While I may have gotten it by accident, I was sent it, so I'll cover it. The short version is that the movie is a classic, but this Paramount Blu-ray is anything but. It contains ZERO extras, while the old 2010 Blu-ray from Lionsgate has commentaries, featurettes, and a trailer. If you're just looking for the film on Blu-ray, and have no interest in 4K UHD, avoid the Paramount Blu-ray and grab a copy of the 2010 Blu-ray from Lionsgate instead.

Strings & Frets (1999)
• BUY IT: DVD.
• SYNOPSIS: The seven fingerstyle guitarists you are about to watch have all put their own, highly personal stamp on the instrument, not only by the way they play, but also by the music they write and interpret and the emotions and images their music invokes. No other instrument has found such a vast, global audience in the last 40 years, and as you'll see and hear, no other instrument is capable of such a diverse range of sounds and styles. As divergent as these performances are, the personal backgrounds of these highly creative and influential musicians are interwoven by the mentors who inspired and guided them, their influence on each other, and by the events which have become a part of modern musical history.
• SPECIAL FEATURES: There are no special features on the DVD disc.
• RATING: Not Rated.
• NOTES: Ok, this one is not a new release, as this DVD came out in 2007 (nearly 20 years ago). While I may have gotten it by accident, I was sent it, so I'll cover it. Though the cover art makes it looks like a guitar instructional video, it's actually a 1999 collection of performances by seven different guitarists. Bob Brozman performs "Zonky", "Down the Road", and "Train Song". Pierre Bensusan performs "La Femme Cambree" and "Cordilliere". John Fahey performs "On the Sunnyside of the Ocean" and "Who Will Rock the Cradle". Jorma Kaukonen performs "Embryonic Journey" and "Water Song". John Renbourn performs "Sweet Potato" and "Angie". Stefan Grossman performs "Struttin' Rag" and "Blues for the Mann". Martin Simpson performs "The Turtle & The Asp Dreamtime" and "Icarus". While this type of video isn't my cup of tea, it was an enjoyable 91-minutes of great guitarists doing their thing. If you're into that, and you don't already have this, pick it up.
