Hasbro Ghostbusters: Afterlife Training Kit Unboxing

By Paul Rudoff on Oct. 13, 2021 at 9:27 PM , Categories: Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Toys

One of the benefits to being a member of the press is that I occasionally get really cool press kits that aren't available to the general public. On October 11, 2021, I received Hasbro's "Ghostbusters Training Kit". Read on to find out more about it...

Before I open this up, let's look at the beautiful 23.5" x 11.5" x 9" box that it all comes in. It's meant to look like a wooden crate, not unlike the one that Spengler's Neutrona Wand is found inside. It has a big No Ghost logo on the top, under which "Training Kit" is stamped in red. There are vertical caution stripes and some marshmallow splotches.

The front side shows an illustration of the adorable Mini-Pufts and the Ecto-1 Playset artwork of Phoebe in the blue overalls.

The left side features the Muncher artwork that appears on his Fright Feature packaging.

The back side shows the Afterlife kids all suited up and firing in random directions. I have a feeling that this artwork may appear on their Fright Feature packaging, due out in early 2022.

The right side features more Mini-Pufts, this time breaking out from the box and some Stay Puft Marshmallow packaging.

Okay, let's open this baby up... Would you look at all of that! There's so much good stuff in here.

Starting with the paperwork lying on top, I find the "Social Media & FTC Guidelines" card, which measures 5"x7". This provides the guidelines for posting about the contents. The required disclaimer can be found at the end of this article, where I provide all relevant credits. There is also an 8.5"x11" Training Kit Information card, which runs down what's inside, and provides more of the same FTC guidelines information.

Oh yeah, there's also a "Ghostbusters Certificate of Ghost Bustin' Expertise". This 8.5"x11" card proclaims, "Welcome to the Ghostbusters team! You have hereby completed the Ghost Bustin' training and are now recognized as an official member of the Hasbro Ghostbusters club. Ghost Bustin' Orientation and Training 101: On this 19th day of November in the year 2021." It is signed by Phoebe Spengler, Trevor Spengler, Podcast, and Lucky.

VIP-EXCLUSIVE BONUS FEATURE - Printable Certificate PDF & all high-res photos used in this article.

The back of the info card has some extra details, utilizing the Afterlife merchandise style guide. The back of the certificate is plain red with some social media and legal information.

Underneath the paperwork are all of the real goodies. There are four Mini-Puft Surprise (Series 1) canisters. They are joined by the Fright Feature Ghosts: Slimer, Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and Muncher. I already reviewed them a few days ago. The rest of the items in this box will be reviewed in detail here on Spook Central soon.

Hasbro also included a near-complete set of their new Afterlife-inspired kid's roleplay toys: Proton Blaster M.O.D., Ghost Whistle, P.K.E. Shocker, and Proton Pack. The only roleplay toy not included is the standard-issue Proton Blaster, presumably because the "M.O.D." version serves the same purpose and is better. (The standard "Proton Blaster" has no light or sounds.)

So, that's it. I wish more companies put in the effort that Hasbro made in this Training Kit. Reviews of the individual items will be coming soon here on Spook Central, so keep that P.K.E. Meter turned on...

Paul, I’m happy you and others with Ghostbusters websites received this “training kit” from Hasbro. I contacted Hasbro in recent months to see if I could receive Ghostbusters/Afterlife products for review and giveaways for Ecto-Containment.

I received an automated reply from their PR. I haven’t heard back otherwise. I also haven’t reached out again. I don’t want to come off as needy and that I want free toys.

Christina - You can’t buy the Training Kit. It is only given out to members of the press. You *CAN* buy everything inside of it from the links provided in my review

Rich - You might want to contact them again. With the movie set for release in five weeks, they might be ramping things up.

Paul, that’s most likely true. Sony and Hasbro are busy with Afterlife on the horizon. I’ll probably try again.
