On Sunday, June 2, 2019, the Reelz channel premiered their two-hour special Ghostbusters: Behind Closed Doors. Since it's not being shown anymore, I thought I'd write up a review to show you what it's all about.
Spook Central Milestone - A Blog Was Born
It was 15 years ago today, on May 19, 2004, that the front page "posting board" (aka "web journal") was added to Spook Central. Today they're called blogs, but back then it was a "web journal". At least that's what Bravenet, the supplier of free ad-based web services, called it. An archived copy of the original Spook Central Bravenet web journal is available, including the very first post from May 19, 2004. Yeah, it was butt ugly, to put it nicely!

Long time readers may remember that the first piece of official Spook Central merchandise was the 15th anniversary patch back in 2011. Well, that was nothing compared to this. After nearly 23 years, Spook Central finally has official t-shirts...and other merchandise.

Ghostbusters' Roots Review - Ghost Buster (1952)

Ghostbusters didn't invent the idea of professional paranormal investigations and eliminations. When Dan Aykroyd came up with the concept for the film, he put a modern scientific spin on what others had done in the past. The "Ghostbusters' Roots Review" feature here at Spook Central - an off-shoot of the "Ghostbusters Reference Review" - will take a look at the foundation upon which Ghostbusters was built.
IDW Ghostbusters: Crossing Over Trade Paperback Book Review

IDW released the Ghostbusters: Crossing Over trade paperback this past January. It was yet another look at how the female Ghostbusters from the 2016 film would fare in the hands of a more capable writer (one who isn't Paul Feig), after the Ghostbusters 101 and Answer The Call trade paperbacks. Crossing Over, which collects material from Ghostbusters Annual 2018 (Chapter 1, Samhain-esque story) and Crossing Over issues #1-8 (the remaining chapters), actually includes a plethora of proficient paranormal professionals. Does that open up the prospect for an interesting story? Read on to find out...

This past Summer, Lars Karlsen came forth to help identify some of the few remaining Ghostbusters II filming locations. He even visited the Big Apple to take his own photos of these new locations, as well as the whole array of known locations. All of his photos will be shared this Summer during Spook Central's Revenge of Shot on Site Summer event, which will run down the filming locations of both original Ghostbusters movies in honor of their 35th and 30th anniversaries. In preparation for that, I'll present a few Shot on Site articles over the next few weeks looking at the new places Lars has found.
