Vive Guerrero: A Tribute in Memory of Eddie DVD Review

About 10 years ago, I typed up notes intended to be used to write reviews for a lot of different items. As I was cleaning up the digital clutter on my hard drive recently, I found all of these notes. Most of the products are out-of-print and no longer available for their original cheap prices, so there is no reason to use most of the notes. However, for a few items, the information contained in my notes doesn't seem to be available elsewhere online, so it still seems prudent to write the reviews as intended.
Read on as I tell you all about the Vive Guerrero: A Tribute in Memory of Eddie DVD released in 2006 by Big Vision Entertainment...
American wrestler Eddie Guerrero passed away on November 13, 2005. The Mexican Lucha Libre community paid tribute to him on July 2, 2006 with a special event held at the Denver Coliseum in Denver, Colorado. The event was organized by Pro Wrestling America and released on DVD by Big Vision Entertainment. The program on the DVD runs for 1 hour 54 minutes and is presented in 4:3 Fullscreen with English commentary by Konnan & Larry Rivera, and Spanish commentary by Hector & Mondo Guerrero. The main program contains the following nine matches:
1. Gallo Tapado -VS- Dan Kobrick -VS- Jason King
2. Mascarita Sagrada -VS- Piratia Morgan (2 out of 3 falls)
3. "Los Chivos" Enigma Deo Or & Kayam -VS- "Los Hermanos De Casa's" Heavy Metal & Felino
4. Black Tiger & Art "Tiger" Flores -VS- "Los Perros Del Mar" Mr. Aguila & Damian 666
5. "Super Porky" Brazo De Plata -VS- Black Warrior & Commando Red (uncredited)
6. L.A. Park -VS- Super Parka
7. Los Guerreros Chavo, Mondo, Hector -VS- Villano IV, Rey Misterio, & Haku
8. Battle Royal
9. Hijo Del Santo -VS- Blue Demon Jr. (2 out of 3 falls)
All you get for that nearly two-hour runtime are these matches. There are NO entrances or exits, just match after match with title cards in between. There is NO ten bell salute, NO tribute speeches or videos, nothing at all that would count as a "tribute" to Eddie. All of the memories of Eddie are done in the English commentary by Larry Rivera and Konnan. (I don't know what the Guerrero brothers said about Eddie in the Spanish commentary track.) If you turned off the audio, and just watched the video, you'd have no indication at all that this was an Eddie Guerrero tribute show. There isn't a proper start or ending. You get a "Vive Guerrero" title screen, then the title card for the first match, and after the last match, it just fades to black. There's isn't even an "In Memory" card at the end.
The DVD includes the following bonus matches:
- Eddie Guerrero -VS- Super Crazy (from the debut Ring Of Honor event, titled "The Era of Honor Begins", on February 23, 2002 in Philadelphia, PA) (12 min)
- Rey Misterio Jr. -VS- Juventud Guerrera (2 out of 3 falls) (Spanish Commentary) (13 min)
- Rey Misterio Jr. & Octagon -VS- KGB & Pentagon (2 out of 3 falls) (Spanish Commentary) (20 min)
- Rey Misterio Jr. & Super Calo & Leon Nego -VS- Juventud & Psicosis & Halloween (Spanish Commentary) (11 min)
