[ NOTES ]
Making Apes: The Artists Who Changed Film is available on Blu-ray (MOD Recorded BD-R) and DVD (MOD Recorded DVD-R). Given that this is a low-budget release, I do not think that there is a factory-pressed disc in either format. If you enjoy the Planet of the Apes films, specifically the classic series from the 1960s and 1970s, you owe it to yourself to see this documentary.
Of course, to fully appreciate this documentary, you need the Planet of the Apes films that are the subject at hand. The original five-film series (1968-1973) is available on Blu-ray in a "40-Year Evolution" set packaged in a large book, as well as in a "Legacy Collection" in a standard case. The 2001 Tim Burton film is readily available on Blu-ray. The currently film series, which currently holds at four films (2011-2024), isn't available as a "complete" set, so the best you can do is get the "Trilogy" set on Blu-ray or 4K UHD, and then buy Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on 4K + Blu-ray, which gives you both Theatrical & Raw Cuts. Finally, if you want the complete Apes collection, you need the DVDs of The Complete Live-Action Series and Return to the Planet of the Apes: The Complete Animated Series.
As an FYI: The release I'm reviewing is a Manufacture On Demand Recorded Blu-ray, not a factory-pressed disc. If online artwork and the case spine says "Blu-ray Disc" in plain text, it's a BD-R recorded disc. If it has a Blu-ray logo, it's a factory-pressed disc. If you have the disc in hand, a purple bottom is a recorded disc, and a silver bottom is a pressed disc. It is said that factory-pressed discs last longer than recorded discs, aside from those made by Warner Brothers in the late 2000s. I don't know if that's true, but if it matters to you, I'm letting you know.
