Man of the Year (2006) Shout Factory Blu-ray Review

Shout Factory recently released the Man of the Year (2006) Blu-ray. Let's take a look at it...
[ SYNOPSIS ]
Tom Dobbs (Robin Williams) is a comedian with a reputation for telling it like it is. An idle remark about running for President finds Dobbs thrust into the political arena. Unleashing his trademark comic rants on the powers that be, Dobbs finds that the joke is on him when - against all logic, reason, and punditry - he wins the election!
[ SPECIFICATIONS ]
The movie is presented in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with a runtime of 1:54:54. The movie has been rated PG-13 for language including some crude sexual references, drug related material, and brief violence. Audio languages include English. Subtitle languages English SDH.
[ SPECIAL FEATURES ]
There are no special features, not even the two featurettes from the previous DVD and Blu-ray releases: "Commander and Chief" (12:51) and "Robin Williams: A Stand Up Guy" (9:14). What a shame. I expected better from Shout Factory.
[ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ]
No digital copy code voucher is included inside the standard one-disc blue Blu-ray case.
[ NOTES ]
Man of the Year (2006) is available on Blu-ray (Shout), Blu-ray (Sony), and DVD (Universal). Since the Shout Factory disc is missing both of the featurettes from the other two releases, I can not recommend it at all. If you can find a reasonably-priced copy of the now out-of-print Sony Blu-ray, that is the release to get. As for the movie, it's hard to believe that this satire is actually more relevant in 2016, and again in 2024, than it was in 2006. Robin is great, as always, and the film is highly recommended - just get one of the releases that actually has special features.
