Icons Unearthed: Marvel Blu-ray Review

Mill Creek Entertainment is set to release the Icons Unearthed: Marvel Blu-ray on January 14th. Read on to find out more about it...
[ SYNOPSIS ]
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the most successful franchise of all time, and it has changed the way movies are made. Taking a cue from their comic book source material, these films tell different characters' stories that all take place in one massive, interwoven universe. Each film would introduce one key protagonist, building toward the release of one giant blockbuster, The Avengers, that would put them all together. If a single one of those films failed at the box office, it could derail what may be the biggest gamble ever taken in the history of cinema. How did Marvel pull it off?

[ NOTES ]
Icons Unearthed: Marvel is available on Blu-ray only. Each "season" of Icons Unearthed is a different multi-part "episode" about a single film series. It was made by the same crew who produced The Toys That Made Us and The Movies That Made Us, and if you've seen either of those series, you'll have an idea as to what to expect here. I suspect that even a die-hard Marvel fan will learn something over the many hours of interviews and information presented here.
A couple of extra notes... On the Disc 3 menu, JJ Field's last name is misspelled as "Feild"; yet J. Michael Straczynski's last name is spelled correctly :-) "Episode 7" includes a quick shot of the Marvel UK Real Ghostbusters #1 comic book cover when talking to the two writers who worked on it. J. Michael Straczynski, of course, was a writer and story editor for the original animated series that comic was based on. I have not had a chance to watch his nearly two hour long interview to see if he talks about the series.
Mill Creek already released all of the previous seasons on Blu-ray: Star Wars (reviewed here), The Simpsons (reviewed here), and The Fast and the Furious (reviewed here). It seems that Mill Creek is releasing the seasons in order, so I think the James Bond season will be next. Keep them coming, Mill Creek.
