All of Me (1984) Blu-Ray Review (Vestron Video Collector's Series #33)

All of Me (1984) arrives on Blu-ray as the 33rd entry in Lionsgate's Vestron Video Collector's Series, "a line of classic and unique genre films, remastered and numbered, and packed with special features." I have reviewed several other titles in the series.
[ SYNOPSIS ]
Roger Cobb (Steve Martin) is a lawyer who dreams of playing jazz. Edwina Cutwater (Lily Tomlin) is a millionairess who dreams of inhabiting a new body. But the guru responsible for Edwina's soul relocation goofs, and she ends up in a very different body... Roger's! Now, with one half of himself controlled by Edwina - and his job and sanity in jeopardy - Roger is in for a wild and crazy ride that will show him both what manhood really means, and the hilarity that can result when two literally become one.
[ SPECIFICATIONS ]
The movie is presented in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with a runtime of 1:31:51. The movie has been rated PG. Audio languages include English. Subtitle languages include English.
[ SPECIAL FEATURES ]
Here is a list of the special features that are included on the disc.
- Audio Commentary - with film historian Joe Ramoni.
- Back in the Bowl (25:57) - An interview with screenwriter Phil Alden Robinson.
- Bodies Behaving Badly (28:21) - A (rather pretentious) video essay by film critic Cerise Howard, who likens the premise of this film to a wide variety of non-related movies, such as the teen girl werewolf flick Ginger Snaps.
- Hilarity Ensues (16:32) - A video essay by Hollywood historian Staci Layne Wilson.
- Theatrical Trailer (2:35)
- Teaser Trailer (1:29)

A Digital Copy code voucher is also included in the standard one-disc blue Blu-ray case. The first print run includes a slipcover.
[ NOTES ]
All of Me (1998) is available to buy on Blu-ray through the link in the list below. Some people in the video collecting community bemoaned the fact that this film was getting the "Vestron Video Collector's Series" treatment instead of another Horror film. Personally, I like the fact that the Vestron series has a little bit of variety to it. This comedy classic, which has long been relegated to crappy 4:3 open matte DVD transfers from 1998 (see Spook Central's Greystone Mansion page for Blu-ray and DVD image comparisons), deserves to me a part of this line. While Lily Tomlin may get shared top billing, this is a showcase for Steve Martin's physical comedy. I think it may be his best role.
I need to point out that the trailer included on the Blu-ray is NOT the same one that was included on the Trimark Home Video DVD from 1998, which has the heart logo at the end. Embedded below is the DVD trailer (in 4:3), followed by the Blu-ray trailer (in 16:9).
