[ SYNOPSIS ]
A vicious London gangster, Jack Carter (Michael Caine), travels to Newcastle for his brother's funeral. He begins to suspect that his brother's death was not an accident and sets out to follow a complex trail of lies, deceit, cover-ups and backhanders through Newcastle's underworld, leading, he hopes, to the man who ordered his brother killed.

The movie is presented in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio with a runtime of 1:51:42. The movie has been rated R. Audio languages include English. Subtitle languages include English SDH.

- Audio Commentary - with actor Michael Caine, director Mike Hodges, and cinematographer Wolfgang Suschitsky. The track is the product of three separate interviews cut together.
- Music Trailer (3:41) - More like a music video, which shows composer Roy Budd playing the theme.
- International Trailer (2:44) - An actual movie trailer.
- Michael Caine Trailer (0:48) - A short introduction by Michael Caine to a screening for the citizens of Newcastle.
No digital copy code voucher is included inside the standard one-disc blue Blu-ray case.
[ NOTES ]
Get Carter (1971) is available on Blu-ray (alt url), DVD (2001 Snapper Case) [no link], and DVD-R (2011 Warner Archive). It should be noted that the 2001 Snapper Case DVD includes a Music Only Track for the movie and a feature listed as "Notes on Michael Caine", which is not included on the Blu-ray or DVD-R.
The film is an adaptation of Ted Lewis' novel "Jack's Return Home", which was made into the American Blaxplotation classic Hit Man (1972) (reviewed here), which is available on Blu-ray and DVD. Get Carter (2000), the American remake with Sylvester Stallone, is available on Blu-ray and DVD.
