Thundercats (1985) - Original Four 6-Disc Volumes vs. 12-Disc Complete Series DVD Comparison Review

Image

Thundercats is a 130-episode Rankin-Bass Productions/Lorimar-Telepictures animated series that aired in syndication during the 1985–1989 television seasons. Thundercats follows the adventures of a group of catlike humanoid aliens from the planet Thundera. When the dying planet meets its end, the group is forced to flee. While en route to their new homeland, their spaceship is attacked by the Mutants of Plun-Darr, causing them to make an emergency landing on Third Earth. The Thundercats become friendly with the natives of Third Earth, who help the cats when the Mutants find out where they are and attack again.

Warner Brothers has released the complete series of Thundercats on DVD in two different configurations. The first time was as four separate six-disc volumes in 2005 and 2006. The second time was as a "complete series" set consisting of twelve re-authored discs in 2019. (Amazon purchase links for all of these releases, and a discussion of the other individual releases, appears at the end of this review.) This review will look at both of these releases so you'll know which to buy and which to avoid.

Assassin's Creed (2016) Blu-ray & DVD Easter Eggs

Image

There are many websites devoted to DVD Easter Eggs, though they don't seem to have been updated in quite some time. By the time the Blu-ray format came out in the mid-2000s, the studios mostly gave up on Easter Eggs, so there aren't many on Blu-ray, but there are some. Generally, these aren't listed on the Easter Egg sites, so I thought I would list the Blu-ray Easter Eggs that I find on the discs that I own. Today, I'll show you the eggs on Assassin's Creed (2016).

eBay Takes Down Physically-Shipped Item Listing Claiming Electronically Delivered Items Policy Violation

Image

I have been an eBay member since January 4, 2003, and selling on the site for over 10 years now. My sales suck because eBay does everything in their power to hinder me. I have to find ways to work around the obstacles eBay puts in my way to sabotage any chances I have of selling items. I have already written a series of articles about eBay, who clearly has some sort of vendetta against me. I have no other explanation for the myriad of stupid reasons they've given for taking down listings of mine over and over again. I've written about some of these in the past, but I've never written about all of them. I'll write about them if they happen again, but for now, I'll just concentrate on the latest eBay bullshit.

Mad Max 2015 Blu-ray Image Gallery

Image

When I "upgrade" to a later DVD or Blu-ray release, I'll usually check to make sure that everything from the old disc is on the new DVD/Blu-ray. Most of the time it is, but what usually falls victim to the "porting over" process are still image extras. This is especially true if the old DVD was released in the late 1990s/early 2000s, when studios would include Production Notes and Cast & Crew Biographies/Filmographies as extras. This text is, almost always, sourced from the movie's original press kit materials, and I feel it's worth preserving. So, before I get rid of that old disc, I'll screencap all of the stills.

Today, I will be looking at the still gallery from the Mad Max "Collector's Edition" Blu-ray released by Shout Factory on May 5, 2015. Although this disc only came out a mere five years ago, the new 4K + Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases by Kino Lorber (set for release on November 24, 2020) don't include this image gallery (based on what the specs say), but include everything else and a few new things. So, let's look at my preservation efforts for the 101-image gallery from Shout's Blu-ray...
