[ NOTES ]
Wolf Man (2025) is available on 4K UHD, 4K UHD Steelbook, Blu-ray, and DVD. The movie can be described as The Wolf Man (1941) meets Cronenberg's The Fly (1986), with The Shining layered over it. I won't say much more to avoid spoilers, other than the transformation is handled more like a disease (hence the reference to The Fly) than in the usual "dog" transformation (like An American Werewolf in London). There is a pretty big "plot hole"; or more like a big "unanswered question". I will give them a lot of credit for doing a lot of the effects practically, with the makeup effects being done by Arjen Tuiten, who worked on Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
One of the special features, "Nightmares and Soundscapes", details the sounds of the movie. One of the items used to make those sounds is the Aztec Death Whistle, which was an item featured in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. It sounds similar to the one in Afterlife, but they used it as part of a layered soundscape for the wolves.
All of that said, could Universal have chosen a worse cover art image? It's The Exorcist 4K UHD and Poltergeist 4K UHD level bad. Seriously, who thought an image of a scared little girl peeking out from behind her fingers was the right image for a movie titled Wolf Man?!?
