Neca $9.99 "Best of Neca Blind Bag" Unboxing Review
By Paul Rudoff on Apr. 16, 2025 at 8:00 PM in Mystery/Blind Bags
From 2019 to 2022, I reviewed several of Neca's $9.99 & $39.99 themed blind bags. After getting many duplicate items, I stopped buying them. Well, today I saw a new for 2025 Neca $9.99 Blind Bag in my local Target, this one named "Best of Neca Blind Bags". It's the same size - 7.5"x11" - as all of the previous $9.99 blind bags, and it has all four logos on it: Sci-Fi and Horror, Pop Culture, Gamer, and Superhero. Proclaiming "over $25 worth of toys and collectibles", this blind bag carries a MSRP of $9.99. I highly doubt that it will be anything close to $25 in value, but enough time has passed since I last bought one of these Neca blind bags, so at least it shouldn't be stuff I already have. Was it worth it? Read on to find out...

Verizon's Safelink Wireless Refuses To Replace Fire Hazard Phone
By Paul Rudoff on Apr. 14, 2025 at 9:00 PM in Public Service Articles

SafeLink Wireless, the government-supported Lifeline service of TracFone Wireless, a Verizon company, provides free cell phones to low-income Americans. I have had a free cell phone from Safelink since 2016. For the first six years, they saddled me with an outdated basic flip-phone from the early 2000s. In 2022, once the old network that the phone (barely) ran on was no longer around, Safelink was forced to give me a modern Internet-enabled Android "smart phone". For the most part, I have had no problems with this Alcatel TCL A3X... until today.
The Last Mimzy (2007) MOD Recorded DVD Review
By Paul Rudoff on Apr. 13, 2025 at 7:00 PM in Home Video

It has been a well-known fact among us video collectors that all DVDs released by Warner Brothers and its related brands (such as New line Cinema) from approximately 2006 to 2008 were not manufactured properly. Over time, the chemical makeup of these discs would break down causing them to become unplayable. I discovered this personally a few years ago, and even wrote about it in December 2023. Still, it wasn't until March 2025 that Warner Brothers finally acknowledged the problem.
It seems that Warner Brothers has made an effort to get many of the affected titles back in stock through Manufacture On Demand (MOD). The Last Mimzy (2007) MOD Recorded DVD is one such title. Read on to find out more about it...
