[ NOTES ]
The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025) is available on 4K UHD, 4K UHD Steelbook, Blu-ray, and DVD. While it's not groundbreaking by any means, relies on a lot of cliches, has some plot holes, and at over two hours is overly long, Last Rites does a good job of entertaining with it's two converging storylines of the Warren and Smurl families. It's clear that this is meant to be a "passing of the torch" of the franchise from the elder Warrens to their daughter Judy and her husband Tony. Whether the franchise continues depends on how much money this film made for Warner Brothers, though I read that it's the highest-grossing of them all, so I'd expect another one in a few years. Whether it also has a Ghostbusters reference, like this film that's set in 1986, remains to be seen.
If you don't own the other films in the Conjuring universe (first film 4K reviewed here), you can buy most of them in the The Conjuring 7-Film Collection Blu-ray set. To have a complete Conjuring Universe Blu-ray collection, add in The Nun II (also on 4K UHD - reviewed here), The Curse of La Lorona (reviewed here), Shazam (reviewed here), Shazam:Fury of the Gods (reviewed here), and Aquaman (reviewed here); those last three become part of the universe due to the appearance of the demon doll.
